In a quaint countryside town, the Shikada family has been running a small, traditional Japanese candy shop for generations. Kokonotsu Shikada, the current heir, has no intention of following in his family's footsteps, instead harboring a passion for becoming a manga artist. His father, desperate to preserve the family legacy, is at his wit's end. That is until the arrival of Hotaru Shidare, a charismatic and enigmatic young woman who sets her sights on Kokonotsu's father. Her company, Shidare Corporation, is a global leader in the sweets industry, and she's determined to lure him back into the fold. But there's a catch: she'll only succeed if she can convince Kokonotsu to take over the family business. And so, Hotaru embarks on a mission to awaken the young man to the simple joys of traditional Japanese sweets, or "dagashi."
