In the bustling halls of Kitauji High School, Kumiko Oumae seeks a clean slate, leaving her troubled past behind. However, her desire for a fresh start is quickly disrupted by the charms of her new friends, Sapphire and Hazuki, who persuade her to rejoin the school's band club. As a euphonium player, Kumiko is thrust back into the world of music, alongside her former middle school bandmate, Reina Kousaka, with whom she shares a complicated history.

The band, struggling to find its footing, faces an uncertain future. With their current performance level, they're unlikely to participate in the prestigious Sunfest festival, let alone make it to nationals. New advisor Noboru Taki presents them with a choice: either coast through their school year or commit to rigorous practice to achieve their goals. Kumiko, still haunted by her middle school experiences, is torn about whether to pursue nationals.

As the band navigates the challenges of Noboru's demanding training, Kumiko and her teammates must confront their personal demons and work together to overcome their struggles. With Reina's return adding an extra layer of tension, the group must learn to harmonize their differences and find success through music, under the guidance of their new advisor.
