In the quaint town of Hokkaido, Souta Takanashi, a self-proclaimed enthusiast of all things cute, finds himself drawn to the charms of his new coworker Popura Taneshima, a young and spirited waitress at the family-run restaurant Wagnaria. As Takanashi becomes Popura's self-appointed caretaker, he inadvertently stirs up a maelstrom of emotions within her, who struggles to reconcile her youthful appearance with her growing maturity.
